Special day: Pebbles is treated to some fish

It’s not every animal that is treated to a birthday surprise.

But for Pebbles the Atlantic harbour seal, it must have felt like all her birthdays had come at once on Wednesday when she was given a frozen cake of fish.

All the other seals at the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo were kept to one side as staff gathered to wish the 23-year-old seal happy birthday.

In the wild, the average lifespan of an Atlantic harbour seal is about 25 years.
